Your Goals, Our Mission.

We understand how overwhelming anxiety and OCD can feel, and we know that experience truly makes all the difference. That’s why every clinician on our team is highly trained and deeply experienced in treating anxiety disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and related conditions. When you choose us,  you’re receiving expert, personalized treatment grounded in the latest research and proven therapeutic methods.

With a genuine commitment to your well-being, we work closely with you (or your child or teen) to create a customized, comprehensive treatment plan tailored your unique needs and goals. Using gold-standard, evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), we help children, teens, and adults regain control, build resilience, and experience meaningful, lasting improvements — often in less time than expected.

While anxiety, OCD and related conditions are our core specialties, our team is also skilled in helping with many other child, adolescent and adult challenges such as depression, stress, and life transitions (see our Treatment section for more).

We’re committed to delivering expert, compassionate care with the warmth and understanding every individual — of any age — deserves.

Our History

Founded in 1972, the Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center (AATC) has been at the forefront of anxiety disorder treatment for more than five decades.

Rooted in early, groundbreaking research in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and influenced by the work of Dr. Joseph Wolpe, AATC was established with a clear and enduring mission: to deliver the most advanced, evidence-based, and personalized care in a compassionate and respectful environment.

AATC was originally developed by clinicians affiliated with the Temple University Department of Psychiatry, including Dr. Alan Goldstein and Dr. Linda Welsh. The Center quickly gained national recognition for its innovative treatment of agoraphobia, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). From the very beginning, AATC’s approach extended beyond the therapy office, with clinicians actively coaching and supporting clients during real-world exposure work—helping individuals face their fears where they occur.

In addition to direct clinical care, AATC has played a vital role in training generations of psychologists and mental health professionals in evidence-based anxiety treatment. Throughout its history, AATC has been home to many renowned psychologists in the field of anxiety treatment, reflecting our ongoing commitment to attracting the most skilled practitioners and providing our clients with the highest quality care. Many clinicians currently practicing in the community received their foundational training at AATC and continue to extend this work well beyond our Center.
