Tamar Runyan, Psy.D.
Dr. Runyan is an expert in providing Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) for individuals across the lifespan.
Dr. Runyan treats patients who are experiencing anxiety, mood, OCD, sleep, and trauma-related disorders. Dr. Runyan has received extensive specialized training and certification in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure/Response Prevention (ERP), as well as training in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Dr. Runyan has served as a mobile therapist for West Philadelphia High School students, an individual and group therapist for clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders, and as a crisis therapist providing crisis hotline phone counseling and in-person individual assessment and counseling. In addition to founding the Gan Chabad of the Main Line preschool, Dr. Runyan taught children of all ages for more than 10-years before pursuing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
Dr. Runyan holds an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) license and is able to see patients in 42 PSYPACT participating states via teletherapy.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Dr. Runyan received her B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania; her M.S. in Elementary Education from Drexel University; and her M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). Dr. Runyan had a clinical placement at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) and clinical placements at the Center for Brief Therapy and Family Medicine at PCOM and ReMed Recovery Care Center in Paoli. Dr. Runyan completed her pre-doctoral internship at Chimes PA/Holcomb Behavioral Health Services.
